Me? I think it's funny. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), on the other hand, is squawking about this photo, saying it's "downright offensive".
The "sexy chicken" picture first appeared in a New York Times story about love of chefs everywhere for crisp chicken skin (which, of course, isn't the healthiest part of the bird... even if it is one of the tastiest). This photo appeared as the centerfold in the article. Ingrid Newkirk - founder of PETA - responded by saying, "When I saw it I just couldn't believe that an editor of The New York Times would find it acceptable. It's a plucked, beheaded, young chicken in a young pose."The controversy has now gone from the newsroom and the barnyard into cyberspace. The "plucked, beheaded chicken" now has a twitter account. If you want to eavesdrop as the chicken clucks her opinion, be sure to check out #sexychicken's tweets. And if you want to read more about PETA's reaction to the exploitation of "plucked, beheaded, young chickens", here's the link to the story.
PETA is so uptight. I think the image is hilarious. I guess they're upset that a chicken was killed and beheaded just for the purpose of this image? They can get over it. Chickens are killed everyday, for food. And I'm sure when the picture taking was over, they may have cooked it, and turned it into a nice dinner.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny. PETA is ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteHilarious picture.
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't find this chicken sexy, nor particularly appetizing...I am far from offended! The legs crack me up for some reason!
ReplyDeleteI find their posters of naked people much more offensive than this!
