| A reminder, Ms. Ocasio. |
The Houston (Texas) National Cemetery was established in 1965. Its grounds - over 400 acres in size - are about half developed at this point. A central focus point on the site is its chapel.
But don't mention God there.
The cemetery director, Arleen Ocasio, has told volunteers that they no longer have permission to say "God bless you" when offering condolences to family members. Ocasio also told them that they must remove the words "God bless" from condolence cards. Apparently Ocasio is concerned about maintaining the separation of church and state.
Ms. Ocasio, I'm a bit concerned about freedom of speech. And although it may be horribly upsetting to you, let me exercise my freedom on this Independence Day and say...
...GOD BLESS YOU, MS. OCASIO...
Like it or not.
